Prof. Pooja P. Preetha is a highly regarded environmental and water-resources engineer at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, AL, specializing in dynamic water-quality modeling, hydrological systems, and integrated groundwater management. Her research addresses critical sustainability challenges tied to climate variability, land-use change, and nutrient transport in river basins.

With a PhD in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Prof. Preetha has developed advanced models that couple remote sensing, GIS, and hydrologic simulation to assess how land-cover dynamics and climate change affect water resources. aamu.edu+1 She is also principal investigator on NSF-funded work to better monitor groundwater trends and improve predictive capacity for sustainable water management. aamu.edu

At WARE-2026, Prof. Preetha will present on “Integrated Modeling of Water-Climate Interactions for Sustainable Groundwater and Surface Water Planning”, sharing insights from her recent research on hydrologic response under climate and land-use change, remote-sensing based vulnerability assessments, and modeling tools for resource resilience. Her session will offer strategies for policymakers and engineers to integrate exposure assessments into water-management policy.
